Ryan Fox is in some of the best form of his career and has plenty of confidence going into the PGA Championship in Oklahoma this weekend.
The tournament's been overshadowed by the absence of defending champion Phil Mickelson, who is expected to join the controversial Saudi-backed breakaway tour.
Fox meanwhile is focused on his own game, seeking the advice of another Kiwi - caddy Steve Williams.
This Major couldn't have come at a better time for Fox, and he can't wait for the challenge.
"I feel good with where my game's at," he told Newshub. "But they're called Majors for a reason - they're the biggest test in golf.
The 35-year-old has three straight top ten finishes, and heads into this weekend's PGA Championship at Southern Hills confident if he's on his game, he can mix it with the best.
"I'm not trying to put too much expectation on myself," he added. "I just want to go out and play the best I can.
"I know if I do that, I can mix it with the best in the world."
Looking for any marginal gain available, Fox sought the advice of Tiger Woods' former caddy Williams, after the pair won the tournament at the same course in 2007.
Although it's changed a fair bit since then, Williams still had some words of wisdom for his compatriot.
"I emailed him [to ask] if there's anything he can remember, or any tips or advice," Fox said.
"Steve did point out the golf course is right in front of you from what he can remember. And he was bang on."
Woods himself is back for his second Major of the year, and the Tiger effect is in full swing.
"I was out on the chipping green when he was out just playing nine holes," Fox said. "The crowd around him was absolutely crazy."
Fox says Woods' return has overshadowed the notable absence of Mickelson as the fallout from his backing of the controversial Saudi backed tour continues.
"While that chat's there in the background, it's not really a focus. Everyone here this week is here to play the PGA Championship.
"I think there was a buzz around earlier if Tiger was or wasn't going to play and I think that overshadowed if Phil was or wasn't going to play."
And Fox is hoping it's his play that does the talking this weekend.
