Kiwi Braden Currie has claimed a third place finish at the Ironman World Championship in Utah, the first New Zealander to stand on the podium since 2005.
Currie, 35, bettered his previous best finish at the Ironman World Championship, when he took fifth place in 2018.
Cameron Brown was the last Kiwi to stand on the podium at an Ironman World Championship event, 17 years ago.
Olympic gold medal winning triathlete Kristian Blummenfelt of Norway took first place, while Canada's Lionel Sanders completed the podium in second place, just 16 seconds ahead of Currie.
"Awesome day of racing to be honest," Currie said.
"I ran the way I normally run, I tried as hard as I could to give it, I didn't feel amazing but then looking at the times they were still pretty fast times so yeah, stoked, it's amazing.
"Ironman World Champs third and in the front of the race most of the day and a bit of a sprint finish toward the end."
Fellow New Zealander Kyle Smith also impressed in his first appearance at the Ironman World Championship, finishing 11th.
Both Kiwis' finishes gives them automatic entry for this year's second Ironman World Championship event, held at Kona, Hawaii in October.
Two World Championship events are being held in 2022, with Sunday's (NZ time) Utah race initially intended to be held in 2021, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
