Chanel Harris-Tavita has rejected the current offer of a contract extension from NZ Warriors, and will likely leave the club at the end of this season.
Harris-Tavita, 23, was challenged by the Warriors to earn the offer of a new contract at the start of the current NRL season, before a two-year deal was put forward at the end of 2021.
The half has not accepted any offer from another club, but Newshub understands Harris-Tavita will decide where his future lies in the coming months.
Harris-Tavita's management has confirmed to Newshub meetings with the club took place last week, but the half has since decided he will not accept the current offer.
His exit would come as another departure for a homegrown player, potentially leaving only Jazz Tevaga and Bunty Afoa as senior first-grade regulars to have come through the club's junior ranks.
Harris-Tavita has become a cult hero for the Warriors this season, playing on through the pain of a ruptured testicle in the club's record 70-10 defeat to Melbourne Storm.
Coach Nathan Brown recently reiterated his desire to keep Harris-Tavita at the club, who've already lost Ash Taylor to retirement this year.
Utility half Kodi Nikorima has already left the club, joining South Sydney Rabbitohs last week.
Elsewhere, Shaun Johnson is 31-years-old as a senior half at the club, while Dejarn Asi is signed until the end of the current season.
Meanwhile, the Warriors have seemingly moved to safeguard their halves stocks for the future, signing Luke Metcalf from Cronulla Sharks, and Ronald Volkman from Sydney Roosters.
