NZ Warriors utility Kodi Nikorima has officially joined South Sydney Rabbitohs for the remainder of the 2022 NRL season.
Nikorima was released from his Warriors contract so he could sign for the Rabbitohs, with the contract including a player option for 2023.
The 28-year-old made 59 appearances for the Warriors, since joining from Brisbane Broncos in 2019.
Warriors' football general nanager Craig Hodges has commended Nikorima for his service.
"We were committed to having Kodi for the rest of the year, but he and his management requested an immediate release," he said.
"He wanted to take up an offer elsewhere. Given the circumstances, we weren't going to stand in his way.
"We thank Kodi for the contribution he has made to the club over the last three years, and wish him and his family all the best for the future."
Rabbitohs football head Mark Ellison has hailed the singing, and says Nikorima's versatility and experience will prove invaluable to the Bunnies.
"Kodi has been a strong performer at NRL and international level for a number of seasons now, across many positions, including all of the key spine positions," he said.
"He will add depth to our side across many facets of the game and we feel he can bring another dimension to our attack, as well as strength to our defence, when he is on the field.
"His experience will also be valuable to many of the young players we have in our squad. We look forward to seeing Kodi in our cardinal and myrtle jersey this season."
Nikorima may get the chance to face his old team as soon as Saturday, when Souths face the Warriors in 'Magic Round' at Brisbane.
