NRL 2022: Wayde Egan, Bayley Sironen return for NZ Warriors against Manly Sea Eagles

  • 31/05/2022

NZ Warriors will welcome back hooker Wayde Egan and second-rower Bayley Sironen for their NRL clash with Manly Sea Eagles on Saturday.

Egan will reclaim the No.9 jersey, after missing the past three weeks with a calf injury, while Sironen has been unavailable for the same duration, due to osteitis pubis.

Egan slots straight back into the run-on side, after utility forward Jazz Tevaga, recent signing Freddy Lussick and Taniela Otukolo filled the void in losses to South Sydney Rabbitohs, St George Dragons and Newcastle Knights. Sironen will make his comeback from the bench.

In the midfield, an injury to promising centre Viliami Vailea opens the door for Rocco Berry to make his first start since the loss to Cronulla Sharks on May 8.

The Warriors had hoped standout forward Josh Curran would be ready to return from an MCL knee injury, suffered during the Anzac Day massacre against Melbourne Storm, but he'll spend another week on the sidelines recovering.

The Sea Eagles sit 11th on the NRL ladder on 10 points, just one place and one win ahead of  the Warriors.

Both sides will look to snap their respective losing streaks, with the Warriors dropping their last four games and the Sea Eagles their past three.
