All Blacks and Crusaders star Richie Mo'unga has recommited to NZ Rugby through until the end of the next Rugby World Cup.
On Friday, Mo'unga signed a new one-year deal for 2023 which will keep him plying his trade on NZ shores for the immediate future and in a black jersey for next year's tilt at the showpiece tournament in France.
While there had been no reports the 28-year-old was considering any off-shores and the decision widely expected, the confirmation will come as welcome news for Crusaders and All Blacks coaches Scott Robertson and Ian Foster.
Last season, Beauden Barrett reclaimed his status as the All Blacks' preferred starter at first-five, with Mo'unga primarily used off the bench.
Renowned as one of the most skilled attacking players in world rugby, Mo'unga has earned 32 caps for the All Blacks since his debut against France in 2017 and helped the Crusaders to multiple Super Rugby titles.
Mo'unga missed the Crusaders' win over Queensland Reds on Friday - his second straight game spent on the sideline with injury. He's expected to be ready to retake the field in next weekend's quarter-final.
