Crusaders hooker Codie Taylor has escaped serious injury during the win over the Brumbies last weekend.
The All Blacks veteran didn't retake the field for the second half of the 37-26 victory at Canberra on Saturday and was sent for scans after the game. Coach Scott Robertson described Taylor's injury as "not great".
On Monday, the Crusaders confirmed that while Taylor won't play in Friday's clash with Fijian Drua at Christchurch due to a rib cartilage injury, he's making "good progress" and doesn't require any further diagnosis.
The team didn't specify a timeframe for his return, saying they'd see how he progresses throughout the coming week.
The Crusaders became the first NZ side to topple the Brumbies, cementing third position on the Super Rugby Pacific standings.
They'll face Queensland Reds in their final round-robin game on May 27 and are on track to host one of the quarter-finals.
