Emirates Team NZ has successfully completed the first test of their new land yacht as they build up to an attempted land speed world record.
Pilot Glenn Ashby completed the inaugural test run, just three days after the land yacht was unveiled in Auckland.
They managed speeds of about 130km/h on their first attempt.
Ashby was pleased to finally have a test run under his belt.
"The design of it and the build up, it's been incredible," Ashby said.
"To get it out here for all the guys today has been one of those moments everyone's been looking forward to for a long time, certainly me.
"[It's been] very successful."
To break the record, Team NZ needs to go faster than the 202.9km/h, set by Richard Jenkins in 2009.
