North Queensland Cowboys have pulled off one of the great comebacks in NRL history to stun Manly Sea Eagles 28-26 at 4 Pines Park on Friday.
Trailing by 14 points with seven minutes to play, the Cowboys reeled off a staggering three-try blitz in the space of just three minutes to pull off an improbable victory.
Sea Eagles hooker Lachlan Croker - Manly's best player on the night - seemed to have put the contest to bed with two quick tries, but ex-Warriors coach Todd Payten's men had other ideas.
Reece Robson went in next to the posts off a kick, followed by a well-engineered try to Connelly Lemuelu. Valentine Holmes then scooped up a bobbled pass by Daly Cherry-Evans to scorch 90m clear and give the Cowboys the lead.
Cherry-Evans had one final chance with a 40m field goal attempt but it sailed wide to seal a famous win for the Cowboys.
North Queensland's third straight win moves them up to third on the NRL ladder, while the Sea Eagles remain 10th.
In other NRL action on Friday, Melbourne Storm battled back to beat Brisbane Broncos at AAMI Park.
Kiwis star Jahrome Hughes and Dean Ieremia both scored doubles, as the Storm came back from 16-6 down to score five straight tries and seal a 32-20 win.
The win consolidates the Storm's spot in second on the NRL ladder, two points behind Penrith Panthers, who take on NZ Warriors on Saturday.
