The Tall Blacks have tipped off their FIBA Asia Cup campaign with a dominant 100-47 win over India at Jakarta on Wednesday.
Pero Cameron's youthful side piled on the points in the opening quarter, translating their suffocating defensive pressure to the scoreboard to take a 30-12 lead.
The situation worsened for the Indians in the second quarter, which the Kiwis won 34-9 to kill off the contest by halftime
Their opponents battled back in the second half but it was merely consolation by that stage, as the Tall Blacks eclipsed the 100-point mark in the dying stages of the match.
Debutant Sam Mennenga led the way for the Tall Blacks with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Taine Murray added 13 points among an evenly distributed night of minutes, as Cameron was able to go deep into this bench.
"We've had a short preparation coming in, so we're really happy to get this win," Cameron said after the game.
"It's something to build on."
The Tall Blacks will play two more matches in Group D, where an unbeaten record will see them advance directly to the quarter-finals.
They'll face Lebanon on Saturday, before rounding out Group play against the Philippines on Monday.
