All Whites forward Marco Rojas will return to his family roots, as he takes the next step in his football career.
Newshub understands Rojas is preparing to travel to Santiago later this week, with a view to joining Chilean giants Colo Colo.
The 30-year-old is a free agent, after spending the last two seasons with the A-League's Melbourne Victory. Rojas has agreed terms with his new club and will join on an 18-month contract, subject to passing a medical.
With 32 national titles, Colo Colo is the biggest and most successful club in Chile. The club finished second behind fierce rival Universidad Catolica last season and currently sits on top of the Chilean Primera Division after 16 games.
Born in Hamilton, Rojas was eligible to represent Chile at international level, via his family heritage, but chose to play for New Zealand and has made 42 appearances for the All Whites, since his 2011 debut.
Rojas will hope his next move is more successful than his previous stints overseas. After several successful seasons in the A-League with Wellington Phoenix and Melbourne Victory, he joined German Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart in 2013, but was loaned out twice, before returning to Victory in 2016.
The following year, he returned to Europe with SC Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he spent two years, before moving to Danish club SønderjyskE.
