Crusaders coach Scott Robertson will take the reins of the Barbarians against an All Blacks XV, when the two sides compete for the Killik Cup in November.
The hotly tipped future All Blacks coach will link with former Super Rugby assistant Ronan O'Gara to lead the historic invitational club.
The duo worked together at the Crusaders for two seasons, before O'Gara left to take up the head coaching role at Top 14 French club La Rochelle.
Robertson is coming off another impressive campaign for the Crusaders, after leading them to a maiden Super Rugby Pacific title this year.
"Rugby throws you great opportunities and coaching the Baabaas has to be one of the best there is," he said. "I am proud to help the incredible club and add to its history.
O'Gara looks forward to rekindling his successful working relationship with his former head coach.
"I am honoured to be coaching the Barbarians this autumn, as we take on the All Blacks XV," he said.
"It will be a dynamite coaching team and I'm very much looking forward to reuniting with 'Ray', after my time with him at Crusaders. It is always great to join forces with world-class coaches like him and to do so for this world-famous club will be an unforgettable experience.
"We're going to put our heads together in the coming months and devise a squad of exciting talent who will light up the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and bring the Barbarians style of play to life against the All Blacks XV."
With doubt hanging over the future of current All Blacks coach Ian Foster, Robertson is a candidate to succeed him sooner, rather than later - possibly before their northern hemisphere tour.
The Barbarians fixture is scheduled for November 14 (NZ time), the same day the All Blacks face Scotland at Edinburgh.
