World heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has burst into song during his face-off with Anthony Joshua, before their highly anticipated rematch in Saudi Arabia on Sunday (NZ time).

At the end of their final press conference to promote the fight, the pair came face-to-face in a tense standoff, which lasted nearly a minute.

Known for his lighthearted personality, Usyj decided to cut the tension by singing a song, called 'Oy U Luzy, Chervona Kalyna', according to Twitter account Zorya Londonsk.

"This song was a popular song of the UNR [Ukrainian National Republic] army towards the end of WWI," they explained in a tweet.

"It has become popular once again, since Russia's full scale invasion & has seen Pink Floyd release a cover of it."
