Many of the world's top golfers are defecting to the LIV Golf Series, but Kiwi Ryan Fox reveals he could never join the Saudi-backed tour.
Fox, 35, has enjoyed a stellar season, rising the world rankings to 48th, after starting the year at 213, and waiting to hear if he will be selected for the Presidents Cup.
The Kiwi's chances have been boosted by numerous defections to the LIV Golf Series and he may well be included in Trevor Immelman's squad.
Fox has echoed comments of several high-profiled critics of the rebel tour, including Tiger Woods and Rory McIIroy, and believes it's bad for the game.
"It's a mess, isn't it?", he said. "Obviously, a lot of big names have come out against it in Tiger and Rory and those guys, and I'm probably in that boat.
"I think it takes away from the traditions of golf that you earn everything on merit, in making cuts and earning your way on tour," he said. "That's a big part of our game.
"Thankfully, I'm away from it. I didn't entertain any offers or anything like that.
"It is interesting to watch from afar and some of the numbers being thrown around are absurd - the lawsuits and everything like that - but the disruption is frustrating for our game. There seems to be quite a big split in opinions at the moment and hopefully something changes over the next couple of years.
"It's sort of entertaining, if not annoying."
Fox is currently enjoying time off with his family in France, but has announced his intention to play in the Australian PGA Championship and Australian Open later this year.
The two tournaments will see him return to play in Australia for the first time since 2019, after recently moving inside golf's top 50-ranked players.
"I'm very excited to play in Australia again later in the year," Fox said. "It's good to have big tournaments back in Australasia and us Kiwis love coming across the Tasman to show up the Aussies on their home soil.
"I've had a good season on the DP World Tour so far. Hopefully, I've got a big finish in me, and then it would be fantastic to wrap up the year with a win or two in Australia.
"It's great to see the DP World Tour working with these events too, and I look forward to hearing plenty of Kiwi accents in the crowds at Royal Queensland, Victoria and Kingston Heath."
