Bay of Plenty have put on a second-half clinic to stun Auckland in their NPC clash at Eden Park.
Trailing at halftime, the visitors surged to claim an unlikely 21-17 victory, after a monumental effort from the Steamers bench.
All eyes were on midfielder Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who made his long-awaited Auckland debut, and he didn't disappoint.
The second-five had a hand in Auckland's first try to centre AJ Lam and almost scored one of his own, but for a great tackle by Bay of Plenty fullback Gillies Kaka.
But that was as good as it got for Tuivasa-Sheck and his team, as Bay of Plenty took ascendancy to complete the turnaround.
Tuivasa-Sheck's opposite, Inga Finau, scored Bay of Plenty's first try right before halftime to reduce Auckland's lead to 10-8 at the break.
Bay of Plenty first-five Kaleb Trask kept the score ticking over in the second-half with his boot, kicking two penalties and converting Nigel Ah Wong's try.
Auckland had the last say, when winger Salesi Rayasi crossed for the try right on fulltime, but it was merely a consolation, as the Steamers held on for the famous victory.
Meanwhile, Otago edged rivals Southland 37-32 at Invercargill to stay atop their group and Hawke's Bay eventually overpower Manawatū 43-17, with All Blacks halfback Brad Weber grabbing two tries.
Auckland 17 (Lam, Rayasi tries; Plummer conversion & penalty, Hickey conversion) Bay of Plenty 21 (Finau, Ah Wong tries; Trask conversion & 3 penalties)
Hawke's Bay 43 (Weber 2, McClutchie, Thompson, Smith & Visinia tries; McClutchie 5 conversions, Tiatia drop goal) Manawatū 17 (Maile 2 tries; Cameron 2 conversions & penalty)
Otago 37 (Bell, Dickson, Lentjes, Vahaakolo tries; Ioane 4 conversions & 3 penalties) Southland 32 (Fine, Whaanga, James, Knapp tries; Banks 3 conversions & 2 penalties)
