All Blacks back Will Jordan is in doubt for the second test against South Africa, after missing Tuesday's (NZ time) training due to illness.
The wing was forced to skip the session due to a stomach bug management described as "mild', hoping he'd be available to return for Thursday's session.
With Jordie Barrett also hobbled by an ankle injury sustained during the 26-10 loss at Nelspruit on Sunday (NZ time), the All Blacks may be faced with a fullback dilemma.
Barrett took some part in Tuesday's training but didn't appear to be a full participant, skipping the kicking session to return to the team hotel.
Calls have been growing to use Jordan in the No. 15 jersey he so brilliantly occupies for the Crusaders and he would be the most likely option to fill in, should he recover in time and Barrett be deemed unable to play, with Sevu Reece to slot in on the wing.
Coach Ian Foster may also look to use Beauden Barrett at fullback and bring Richie Mo'unga into first-five in a return to the dual playmaker set-up.
Jordan has made a stellar start to his international career with 16 tries in 19 tests but struggled - as did most of his teammates - under the Springboks' aerial bombardment at Mbombela Stadium.
Captain Sam Cane reiterated management's belief that Jordan should be available for the rematch at Ellis Park.
"I don’t think he's too bad," said Cane. "He's just got a mild stomach issue. He was at the gym yesterday afternoon, so it can’t be too bad."
Foster will name the All Blacks team late on Thursday.
