Boxing: World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury calls out Anthony Joshua, after Oleksandr Usyk delay

Two-time world heavyweight boxing champion and current WBC beltholder Tyson Fury has called out Anthony Joshua for a potential bout he described as the 'Battle of Britain'.

Fury has flirted with retirement since his TKO win over Dillian Whyte in April, but appears to have his eyes set on Joshua, as talks with fellow world champion Oleksandr Usyk stall.

Usyk defended his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles against Joshua in August, after beating him for the belts a year earlier.

Fury had hoped to strike a deal with the Ukrainian for a December showdown to crown the division's first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999, but Usyk is adamant he won't fight until next year, as he recovers from his rematch with Joshua.

Instead, Fury has turned his attention to Joshua for an interim fight, taking to social media to offer Joshua a shot at the WBC belt and lineal championship.

"I think you've all heard I'm going to be fighting soon, in the next few months," he said. "I think before I announce an opponent, I need to do this, just in case.

"Anthony Joshua, I know you've just lost a fight to Usyk and you're beltless at the moment. I'd like to give you an opportunity to fight me for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world and the lineal championship in the next few months.

"You're coming off a 12-round fight, so you're match fit, you're ready. I'm giving you a few months' notice.

"If you're interested, I'll send you a date over and we can rumble. A battle of Britain for the WBC championship of the world - if you're not interested, let me know and I'll select another opponent."
