New Zealand have fallen four wickets short of sweeping their women's one-day series against West Indies, losings to the hosts in their third encounter at Antiqua.
After victory in the opening two matches, the White Ferns already had the series won, but were always on the back foot in the dead rubber, winning the toss and opting to bat first.
Openers Suzie Bates and captain Sophie Devine put on 19 runs for the first wicket, before both fell within eight balls with no addition to the score. From that point, the NZ innings was more about survival, with Lauren Down compiling 53 runs off 78 balls and Amelia Kerr 30 off 56.
The Ferns lost their last five wickets for 20 runs, dismissed for 168 in the penultimate over of their innings.
"The beauty of going 2-0 up in the series was other people could get an opportunity today," said Down. "It didn't come off for us, which was a shame.
"It would have been nice to finish the series 3-0, but it was cool to get some other players who haven't played as much international cricket out there for a runaround."
West Indies were also in early trouble, when Jess Kerr trapped Natasha McLean and Shabika Gajnabi with consecutive deliveries, leaving the home team 10/2 in the third over, but opener Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor combined for 106 runs that laid the foundation for victory.
Taylor reached her half-century before retiring hurt, while Matthews fell one run later, scoring 40 off 70 balls, and Kyshona Knight and Rashada Williams in quick succession to give the Kiwis some hope of running through the batting order.
Aaliya Alleyne provided the resistance required to see the run chase home, scoring 27 off 34 balls.
The two teams now meet in a five-match Twenty20 series, beginning Thursday at Antigua.
