Ki ora, good evening and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of game one of the Taini Jamison Trophy series, as the Silver Ferns host Jamaica at Auckland's Eventfinda Stadium.

Before even the first whistle could be blown, the series has been marred by mishaps and less than ideal circumstances, with visa issues surrounding the visitors.

Jamaica have been forced to rope in veteran Romelda Aiken George, and even current coach Connie Francis, to meet the 10-player requirement to constitute an official test.

Despite the workaround, the series has been dropped to just two tests, from the originally scheduled three, with World Netball confirming they will be investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, the Silver Ferns' preparations have gone somewhat under the radar, with all the attention on the 'Sunshine Girls'.

Midcourter Kate Heffernan is a late withdrawal after being ruled out of the series with a toe infection, and has been replaced by Kayla Johnson.

New Zealand will fancy their chances against an out of sorts Jamaican team, and will be out for revenge after being knocked by their opponents in the semi-finals at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
