The Silver Ferns have overpowered an understrength, but gutsy Jamaican outfit to win the first test of the Taini Jamison Trophy series at Auckland.
New Zealand shooter Grace Nweke starred, whilst debutant Elle Temu troubled the visitors on defence to clinch a 70-45 victory at Eventfinda Stadium.
Nweke showed great strength and composure underneath the net, shooting 59 from her 63 attempts, with Jamaica's defenders unable to stifle her.
Meanwhile, Temu overcame plenty of evident emotion during the anthem to disrupt several attacks from the visitors.
New Zealand's speed and passing proved too much for the 'Sunshine Girls' to handle, with their task made hard enough without several of their players.
Ongoing visa issues meant Jamaica's coach Connie Francis was forced to suit up and resulted in few changes on court to a tiring team.
But it was the first quarter that New Zealand found their most success, with fast play and Nweke's sharpshooting giving them the 21-10 lead.
Jamaica fought hard in the second quarter, with centre Adean Thomas and shooter Shimona Nelson combining well to claw their way back, with the Silvers Ferns leading 36-20 at halftime.
New Zealand's attack hit their straps in the third quarter on attack, but Jamaica carried on their brave play from the first half.
The Silver Ferns scored 18 goals in the third quarter to Jamaica's 13, for the 54-33 lead going into the final 15 minutes.
An unmarked Nweke continued to find open court underneath the net, as she added to her tally in a player-of-the-match performance.
New Zealand added a further 16 goals in the fourth quarter, with Jamaica scoring a respectable 12, but it was Grace who would have the final say with a goal right on full-time.
Silver Ferns 70 (Nweke 59/63, Ekenasio 7/7, Selby-Rickit 5/7)
Jamaica 45 (Nelson 36/41, Allison 9/14)
