Australian NBL: NZ Breakers go top of ladder with comprehensive victory over Tasmania JackJumpers

The NZ Breakers have gone to the top of the Australian NBL ladder after thrashing the Tasmania JackJumpers in Auckland on Saturday.

American imports Barry Brown Jr and Dererk Pardon starred, inspiring the Breakers to a comprehensive 94-62 win at Spark Arena.

Brown Jr scored 24 points, including 4/5 from three, while Pardon put up an imposing double-double, with 15 points and an incredible 14 rebounds for the game.

Guard Will McDowell-White also chipped in with 13 points, and serviced his teammates well with seven assists.

Forward Thomas Vodanovich was impressive off the bench, contributing 10 points and five rebounds, with the JackJumpers powerless to stop the Breakers' charge.

Tasmanian guard Milton Doyle offered the best respite, with 22 points and six rebounds, but despite a promising opening quarter, his team were never really in the match.

The Breakers led just 17-15 after the first 15 minutes, but surged with three dominant quarters, outscoring their opponents 30-12 in the final period.

The Breakers will now turn their attention to the second-placed Sydney Kings, and will host the reigning champions at Spark Arena on Sunday.
