Kiwi centre Steven Adams has reportedly inked a new deal with the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies.
According to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Adams has signed a two-year extension worth US$25.2 million (NZ$45m).
Adams' current deal, which he brought with him in his trade from New Orleans Pelicans in 2021 - would have expired at the end of the 2022/23 season.
The new extension sees his pay drop US$5.3m (NZ$9.4m) per season from his current rate of US$17.9m (NZ$32m) and runs through until the end of the Grizzlies' 2024/25 campaign.
The 29-year-old maintained his steady production in his debut year with Memphis, leading the NBA in offensive rebounding (4.39 per game), while posting averages of 6.9 points and 10 boards.
But Adams' veteran leadership and toughness make him particularly valuable to a young, ambitious and highly talented Grizzlies team, which will have their sights set on another deep playoff run.
Last season, the Grizzlies - led by All Star guard Ja Morant - win a franchise-record 56 games. They beat Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs, before falling to eventual champions Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference semi-finals in six games.
Now a bona fide NBA veteran, Adams will play his 10th season this year, after being drafted by Oklahoma City Thunder in 2012.
He'll reprise his role as the team's starting centre, when their campaign tips off against New York Knicks on October 20.
