With three days to fix any issues exposed in the Silver Ferns' 62-47 defeat to Australia, coach Dame Noeline Taurua knows exactly what's needed if her side are going to take the Constellation Cup on Sunday.
Up 2-0 in the four match series, the Silver Ferns were brutally exposed at Melbourne's John Cain Arena on Wednesday, as Australia came roaring back into the series with victory by 15 goals.
So emphatic was the nature of the Diamonds' victory, that Australia have pipped ahead on aggregate in the series, now leading 158 to New Zealand's 155.
That means whoever takes out Sunday's fourth and final game on the Gold Coast will win the trophy, either with a 3-1 series scoreline to the Silver Ferns, or an aggregate win to Australia.
But after seeing Australia bounce back from a 52-48 loss in Tauranga before Wednesday's victory, Dame Noeline asserts her side can do the same in time for Sunday's finale.
"The first thing is all we need is a win," she said. "We've got to keep it in context.
"In saying that, they need a win too - that's what it's all about. That's why [the] Constellation Cup is such an awesome competition to be part of.
"We've got a lot of things to work on, and we've only got a couple of days. The turnaround from what Aussie did after the second game is massive, so we've got three days if we can work on that.
"There's quite a few things I feel we can do within the short timeframe, without pulling ourselves apart. We've got to go back to the things we do well."
Aside from being exposed physically, with Australia appearing fitter, faster and stronger than the Silver Ferns in Melbourne, the Diamonds also had the tactical edge over New Zealand, said Taurua.
Wednesday's loss saw a change in defensive structure from the Ferns, Dame Noeline explained, looking to use one-on-one marking rather than the zonal structure that saw them take a 2-0 series lead.
But now with their backs to the wall, the blueprint has been laid for what's needed to lift the trophy on Sunday.
"Being able to execute under pressure is one thing, especially that man-on-man, really hard," she added. "We'll have another look, defensively.
"Our style is zone, or playing the space so we don't get caught up in playing one-on-one, but I feel tonight we did.
"We've got to come back to what we do well, a bit more mobility and looking at a few combinations to see if we can shut it down."
