The Blackcaps have avenged their opening Twenty20 tri-series defeat to Pakistan with a crushing win over the tourists at Hagley Park on Tuesday.
New Zealand cruised to a comprehensive nine-wicket victory, with 23 balls remaining, to claim their second straight win of the series.
Despite losing the toss, the Blackcaps bowlers made Pakistan's batters pay, with spin proving too tough for the visitors to get away.
Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell and Ish Sodhi combined for five wickets, to limit their opponents to just 130/7 after their allocated 20 overs.
Pakistan star openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam looked to have got the visitors off to a strong start at 30 for no loss, until New Zealand's spinners struck.
Bracewell picked up the wicket of Rizwan (16), with Neesham taking the catch at mid-on, before Santner had Shan Masood (14) caught by Santner at long-on down the ground.
Santner wouldn't have to wait long to pick up another wicket, grabbing the important scalp of Azam (21), with Devon Conway taking a smart grab behind the stumps.
Leg spinner Ish Sodhi then got in on the action, offering a slower ball to Haider Ali, but he could only find Tim Southee at long-on, departing for just eight runs.
But Southee made sure the quicks would get some reward, combining well with Blair Tickner to remove Iftikhar Ahmed for a run-a-ball 27 in the final over.
Incoming batter Mohammed Nawaz looked to hit Southee over deep square, but could only pick out substitute fielder Martin Guptill for a golden duck and bring Pakistan's innings to a close and set New Zealand 131 to win.
Blackcaps opener Finn Allen wasted no time in his side's chase, smacking Shahnawaz Dahani for a six in just the second over.
Pakistan's bowlers struggled to find the same success as New Zealand, and were evidently troubled by the right and left-handed opening pair of Allen and Devon Conway.
Conway was content to play the supporting role, as Allen continued to lay into the limp Pakistan bowling attack.
Allen hit a staggering six sixes for his 62 runs, before finally going for one too many, and was stumped off the bowling of Shadab Khan.
But the damage was already done, with Conway ramping up his charge, to finish unbeaten on 49 runs, with captain Kane Williamson (9*) hitting the winning run in the 17th over.
The Blackcaps will also be boosted by the return of fast bowler Adam Milne for the remaining matches, having overcome his injury.
New Zealand will play Bangladesh in their last round-robin game on Wednesday, with the final to be played on Friday.
Blackcaps 131/1 (Allen 62, Conway 49*; Khan 1/26)
Pakistan 130/7 (Ahmed 27, Ali 25*; Bracewell 2/11, Santner 2/27)
