Kiwi timbersports great Jason Wynyard is well aware of the magnitude of the challenge lying directly in front of him, as he attempts to win his 10th world title at this weekend's world championships.
The 48-year old is returning to the international stage for the first time in five years, after overcoming debilitating arthritis and a hip replacement.
Wynyard is currently chipping away in Sweden, where he's preparing for another title bid.
"I'm feeling pretty good," Wynyard told Newshub.
"I've had a rough couple of years with osteoarthritis and ended up having a hip replacement."
Wynyard has dominated the sport for years, but a lot has changed since his last title in 2017.
He's undergone several stem cell treatments and now requires strong pain medication to walk. He only returned to the national stage last year, after a long recovery from COVID-19.
"It's been a bit of a struggle, but I've put in a lot of hard work and been looking forward to getting out there and competing in the world championships," he said.
This event could be his final appearance on the sport's biggest stage.
"At this point of my career, any competition that I'm in could be my last."
Wynyard is determined to make this one count.
"I'm under no illusions of how difficult is going to be to pull this off, but thats pretty exciting for me because I think I can and I believe I can," he insisted.
Securing a 10th world title would make for a fitting farewell.
