Lap 161/161
Winners: Shane van Gisbergen & Garth Tander

8:24pm

What a day. What a race.

That'll be all from tonight's live coverage. Stay tuned for a wrap of the action, otherwise thanks for joining us - and we'll see you again soon!

8:05pm

What a race! That's 19 wins this season for Shane van Gisbergen - going past the record set by Scott McLaughlin.

What's more, that's a win for Holden as they say goodbye to Supercars!

He started seventh on the grid, had two penalties, but Shane van Gisbergen wins the Bathurst 1000 - again!

8:02pm

It's there! Shane van Gisbergen wins the Bathurst 1000!

8:02pm

Nearly there! Approaching the final corners!

8:01pm

The lead is back to 1.3s, van Gisbergen just has to get home!

8:00pm

Here we go - last lap! Shane van Gisbergen is 0.8s in front!

Can he see it home?

8:00pm

Another mistake from van Gisbergen though! He's lost some more time, with the lead now 0.9s!

7:58pm

Two laps left! Van Gisbergen is so close!

7:56pm

Van Gisbergen makes a mistake in braking, and the gap is now less than a second!

There's nothing in this!

7:52pm

Five laps to go. Van Gisbergen is holding firm. Mostert is going nowhere.

Strap yourselves in.

7:50pm

Mostert is the fastest car on track at the moment - as he's been for most of the day.

He's still 1.13s back though, so needs van Gisbergen to make a mistake.

7:49pm

Will we see one last twist? Van Gisbergen is holding his lead, less than 10 laps left in this.

7:46pm

Waters has dropped back, and that could be curtains. Mostert, though, just put in his fastest lap of the race.

Not yet though - Mostert loses time in a corner, and does so well not to lose control altogether.

The mud from this morning has had another say!

7:44pm

Mostert has closed the gap! He's now less than a second back.

This is not over!

7:41pm

Van Gisbergen is getting quicker and quicket. He's now a second in front.

He's just put in the fastest first and second sectors, and can take the fastest lap - which he does!

7:38pm

Van Gisbergen starts to pull away again! His lead is now 0.7s and Mostert is starting to drop back.

Waters is pushing in third, but he's running out of time to overtake Mostert and push van Gisbergen.

7:36pm

Mostert is starting to make his move, but van Gisbergen holds him off.

The gap at the front is about 0.35s. Waters is still a huge threat down in third as well, but the Kiwi is putting in a masterclass.

7:33pm

Waters is lining up Mostert, but can't get past as he looks for a divebomb down the left!

Van Gisbergen leads Mostert by 0.3s.

7:31pm

Van Gisbergen leads, Mostert second. Waters moves up to third with a brilliant overtake on Kostecki!

7:30pm

Here we go then! Green flag, and it's a sprint to the finish!

7:27pm

The safety car is coming in. We're going to have about 15 laps for someone to win this.

7:19pm

Further down the grid, Kiwi Chris Pither has been forced to retire with mechanical failure, and Richie Stanaway is 12th.

Davison's car is being cleared from the track, so hopefully we'll be back racing soon.

7:17pm

The top five is now van Gisbergen, Mostert, Kostecki, Waters and Feeney.

All behind the safety car for now, but it's going to be a shootout once we're back to a green flag.

7:13pm

Van Gisbergen is out and keeps first, but Mostert has undercut Kostecki to take second!

This is going to be close! Mostert will have a crack at van Gisbergen when we restart.

7:12pm

Davison has gone into the wall! Is this another safety car?! Van Gisbergen and Kostecki pit immediately.

It's safety car No.8.

7:11pm

Mostert will pit next, same with Waters. New tyres, more fuel again for both.

Mostert is the first to exit the pits, and emerges down in fourth.

Waters is sixth as he leaves the pits.

Van Gisbergen leads by 5.3s, still to stop though. Kostecki is second.

7:09pm

Feeney pits. New tyres and a fuel top up. This'll take him to the end of the race.

He exits the pits down in eighth, but the cars in front of him will all have to stop, 21 laps to go.

7:05pm

Smith has made it to the pits in one piece, so no safety car for now at least.

Waters is going to be the first of the top five to pit, that'll put him on faster tyres, and see him make up ground once he re-enters.

7:04pm

Hang on. Jack Smith has an issue down in 13th. Will this be another safety car?

Van Gisbergen's lead is 5s, but a safety car would definitely see them all pit.

7:02pm

Van Gisbergen's lead is now more than 4.5s, but we're all waiting for the final stop.

6:58pm

Just 26 laps left. Van Gisbergen is holding, but the drivers are looking to save fuel here.

The final pit stops are to come, but adding fuel will make these cars heavier and therefore slower.

Who blinks first? And will we see another safety car?

6:52pm

The Kostecki-Mostert battle is letting van Gisbergen pull ahead.

He's 3.7s in front now, and Waters will join the fight behind him.

6:47pm

All drivers are burning through their fuel here. There's one pit stop to come, and then it's going to be a sprint to the finish line.

Van Gisbergen's lead is 3.5s, just 30 laps to go!

6:44pm

Waters pips van Gisbergen for the fastest lap - and he's closing in on Mostert!

Kostecki is holding off Mostert in second.

6:43pm

Tell ya what, van Gisbergen is on for the fastest lap here! He's pulled 3.2s clear, and that gap is increasing.

6:41pm

Waters goes for the overtake - and Feeney is forced off the track as a result!

Feeney drops down the grid to sixth. Waters is up to fourth, Holdsworth goes up to fifth.

Van Gisbergen's lead is nearing three seconds.

6:39pm

And make that 2s clear, possible worry for van Gisbergen's fuel, but so far, so good.

6:36pm

Mostert is less than 0.3s away from overtaking Kostecki, but the battle has allowed van Gisbergen to move 1.5s clear at the front.

6:33pm

Waters goes for the overtake on Feeney, but can't get past!

Any of the top five could win this from here! Van Gisbergen's lead is 0.8s.

6:32pm

There's a battle going on between Kostecki and Mostert, both vying for second place.

Less than 40 laps to go now!

6:29pm

Green flag - and we're away! Can van Gisbergen hold on?!

6:22pm

Hazlewood is in the pits and getting repairs, and looks like he's going to try and finish the race.

There's still debris from the crash on the track, so once that's cleared we can see a green flag.

6:16pm

Van Gisbergen keeps the lead after the pit stop! This should also bring Waters right back into it, he's been able to stay out and retakes fifth place.

6:15pm

And the leaders all pit behind the safety car, van Gisbergen first.

Kostecki and Mostert follow. Fresh brakes going on for van Gisbergen.

Feeney also pits. Lets see who comes out where.

6:14pm

Hang on! Hazlewood is in the wall, will this be safety car No.7?

It is! The field will bunch and turn this into a sprint!

6:12pm

Waters pits from fifth. Not sure what the issue is, but this will almost certainly end his chances of winning.

Seems like a braking fault.

He leaves the pits down in ninth, 1m 30s behind van Gisbergen.

6:09pm

Make that a 15s lead for van Gisbergen! The Kiwi is starting to pull away at the front.

Mostert is about 32s back, but running out of time to catch him.

6:02pm

Van Gisbergen has pushed his lead out to 14.2s over Kostecki, and we've now got less than 50 laps to go.

5:58pm

Mostert is challenging Feeney for third place. He's less than half a second back, but should get round him - and does.

Mostert up into third.

Van Gisbergen leads by just under 13s.

5:51pm

Van Gisbergen leads Kostecki by 12 seconds, but Mostert is still the fastest car on track.

Elsewhere, Stanaway is 19th, and Hill - Pither's co-driver - is in 15th before he switches back in.

5:44pm

Mostert leads by 36s, but pits. Van Gisbergen takes the lead.

Mostert is now down to fourth. The top five is Svg, Kostecki, Feeney, Mostert and Waters.

This is going to be some finish.

5:38pm

It's a matter of time before Mostert catches Whincup, the gap is now down to 0.7s. Van Gisbergen is 36s behind Mostert.

Whincup pits, so Mostert now takes the outright lead! Feeney takes over from Whincup.

5:37pm

So, van Gisbergen has come out of the pits in third.

Whincup holds a lead of just under 1.4s over Mostert, who has the fastest car at the moment - and won this race last year.

Kostecki is fifth after the pits, but is behind D'Alberto who'll need to switch out for de Pasquale.

5:34pm

We've moved on to the 100th lap. Tander has increased the lead to 17s, but he's pitting to change out for van Gisbergen.

Jamie Whincup moves into the lead in van Gisbergen's place.

Russell pits as well, will he switch out for Kostecki? He does.

5:30pm

Stanaway is in 20th after swapping out with Murphy. He's still a lap and a half off the leader though, but has been solid today.

5:27pm

Waters is 12th after the pit. Mostert has clocked the fastest lap of the race.

When does Tander swap back out for van Gisbergen?

5:24pm

Mostert has closed the gap on Tander to 29s. Moffat has pitted, and it looks like Waters will swap over.

This should keep the pressure on Tander in front.

5:16pm

Mostert overtakes Moffat into fourth place. But Tander's lead has increased to 12s, and 32s over Mostert.

5:09pm

Mostert is currently lapping fastest of the cars on track, but is 30s behind Tander in the lead.

We're on for a big finish here, 73 laps to go!

5:02pm

Percat is out after hitting the wall. That's five cars retired today.

Tander's lead is approaching 10 seconds.

4:57pm

Tander leads by around 8.3s, but will still need to swap out for van Gisbergen.

We're now past halfway though.

4:53pm

And now Coulthard pits. Will he switch out for Mostert? He does.

That moves Tander into the lead.

4:51pm

De Pasquale pits though, as does Whincup in second.

That should move Coulthard into the outright lead. So a Kiwi is in front, but co-driving for Mostert.

Tander is up to second after the stops, waiting on Coulthard to switch out as well.

4:49pm

Right then. Tander pits, time to refuel. Will he switch out for van Gisbergen?

Not yet. Tander re-emerges in sixth. De Pasquale takes the lead.

4:46pm

Percat's in the wall! This should be a safety car!

Hang on, he's managed to get out, but there's clear damage to his car.

He drops to eighth and falling.

4:43pm

The lead for Tander is approaching seven seconds, but again these next pit stops could change everything.

Coulthard is up to seventh, co-driving for Mostert. Murphy is 14th filling in for Stanaway.

4:37pm

Less than 90 laps to go now. Tander has pushed the lead to more than 4.5s.

Golding has suffered damange to the front of his car though, this could trigger another safety car...

4:32pm

Moffat is now 12th, but has the extra stop on Tander and van Gisbergen.

The next set of stops will be telling.

4:28pm

We're approaching the next set of pit stops. Tander's lead is 3.4s, but is one stop behind Russell.

4:22pm

Murphy has moved up into 21st after Everingham's spill. Pither is 18th.

4:20pm

Tander's lead is increasing, up to 2.7s. We're down to less than 100 laps to go as well!

4:17pm

Coulthard is back in the driver's seat after switching with Mostert.

He's down in 11th, but moves up to 10th as Everingham spins.

4:15pm

Moffat is up to 14th, chasing the Tander/van Gisbergen partneship.

4:13pm

Tander is beginning to pull away. He leads Russell by 1.7s on the 62nd lap, after van Gisbergen built a 10s lead earlier in the race.

4:09pm

Murphy is clipped, but does brilliantly to keep himself on the track.

Macauley Jones the culprit. Murphy loses a place and is now 22nd.

4:07pm

Greg Murphy is also back in the No.51 car after switching with Stanaway. He's down in 21st at the moment.

4:04pm

The safety car is getting ready to come in, and we're racing again.

Elsewhere, the No.96 car has been repaired and will continue.

Tander gets us going.

4:03pm

We're hearing that any issues with the van Gisbergen/Tander car have been resolved.

Still behind the safety car, but this next stint will go a long way towards victory.

3:58pm

It also looks like that could be it for Macauley Jones and Jordan Boys in the No.96 as it crawls back to the pits.

3:57pm

And it looks like Tander will come out in front. Russell is second after switching with Kostecki.

De Pasquale is third, Percat fourth.

3:56pm

Oh wow. There's another safety car, the sixth of the day.

Macauley Jones has gone off the track, so the leaders all pit.

We'll wait and see who comes out in front.

3:54pm

Percat pits now, so Brodie Kostecki takes the lead.

Moffat has moved up to 15th, after initially sitting on pole alongside Cam Waters.

Percat re-enters in 17th, Tander is 16th.

3:52pm

Van Gisbergen pits, and they're changing drivers. Tander takes over again.

They're also changing the brakes and refuelling. There doesn't appear to be any issues with the oil.

The No.97 car leaves the pits in 18th.

Percat is the new leader.

3:50pm

Make that a 10s lead now. Hang on though, van Gisbergen is complaining he can smell oil inside the car.

Watch this space, but this could be trouble.

3:49pm

Van Gisbergen's extended the lead to 8.5s now, and it's still growing.

Nick Percat has overtaken Pye into second place behind the Kiwi.

3:42pm

Mostert has climed to seventh in pursuit of the leader. Payne is ninth after main driver Holdsworth had the lead for the early stages.

Van Gisbergen's lead is now over 6s.

3:39pm

Van Gisbergen's lead is now nearly 4.5s! We're onto lap 50, but there's still a way to go.

3:37pm

Van Gisbergen's lead is over 3.5s. Stanaway has moved up to 13th.

The Kiwis are making their moves.

Broc Feeney has come off the track, but recovered brilliantly.

Safety car No.6 will have to wait.

3:34pm

Elsewhere, Stanaway is 15th, and Hill - Pither's co-driver - is 16th as the other Kiwis.

As a reminder, Andre Heimgartner's race was ended before he could get behind the wheel, as his co-driver crashed on lap seven.

3:32pm

No safety car after the Moffat spin, but he's dropped down to 21st.

3:30pm

Hang on though! Moffat spins! He's been clipped by Kostecki, and that's huge for van Gisbergen's lead!

3:30pm

Moffat is about six seconds back from the leader, but has the advantage of already having pitted for the third time.

He'll likely take the lead after the cars in front of him pit again.

3:28pm

And green flag! We're back underway as van Gisbergen looks to build his lead before pitting again.

Moffat is down in sixth, and is probably the main contender for the lead.

3:25pm

Scott Pye is second after the latest round of stops. Bruce Fullwood is third.

Work is going in to try and repair the Slade/Blanchard car and get it back out on track.

3:21pm

Moffat emerges from the pit down in sixth. Mostert has also pitted, and exits down in 13th.

Stanaway pitted behind the safety car, and is now 17th.

Still behind the safety car, so hard to say what the exact lead order should be.

3:18pm

Waters pits, and it looks like a driver change as well! Van Gisbergen takes the lead!

3:18pm

Safety car No.5! Tim Blanchard is in the wall, so we're back under yellow flags.

This is perfect for van Gisbergen, with the safety car to close the gap with Waters.

3:15pm

Fraser pits, so van Gisbergen moves to second! He's 3.4s back from Waters at the front of the grid.

3:12pm

Less than a second between van Gisbergen and Fraser now.

The Kiwi is about three seconds back from Waters out in front.

3:10pm

Van Gisbergen is closing on on Stanaway, less than 0.2s back.

Can he ovetake his fellow Kiwi? He sure can, van Gisbergen is up to third place after a three-place grid penalty, and five-second penalty to his co-driver.

3:08pm

Van Gisbergen gets around Brodie Kostecki now! There's only Fraser and Stanaway between him and Waters now!

3:06pm

And van Gisbergen gets round Mostert! He's up into fifth, effectively third once Fraser and Stanaway pit again.

Hang on, Waters gets past Fraser too, and retakes the lead.

3:03pm

Waters is closing in on Stanaway for second place. Mostert is pulling away from van Gisbergen down in fifth.

And Waters has got round Stanaway!

3:01pm

Fraser and Stanaway are in first and second, but are still to pit for a second time.

Waters, Brodie Kostecki, Mostert and van Gisbergen are effectively first to fourth.

2:59pm

The No.56 car, driven by Jake and Kurt Kostecki, has been allowed to overtake the safety car to catch up with the rest of the queue.

That's sorted, and we've got green flag again as Fraser restarts in front.

2:54pm

The No.17 car is out of the mud, driven by the Davison brothers.

We should be getting back underway soon, but the car is covered in mud. Don't be surprised if there's more issues here.

2:53pm

Waters leaves the pits in fourth, van Gisbergen is seventh.

Mostert has swapped out with Coulthard, and is sixth.

2:50pm

They do head for the pits. Waters will stay in the car, but is this where we see van Gisbergen change over? It looks like we will.

Tander pits and changes over, but they've got a five-second penalty remember.

Declan Fraser takes the lead while everyone's pitted, Stanaway is up into second behind the safety car.

2:49pm

Aaaaand that's another safety car. No.4 of the day.

Will we see the drivers pit and change over?

2:49pm

Alex Davison goes too hard trying to get around Tander, and he leaves the track - he's stuck in the mud!

He looks like he's unstuck, but can't get back to the track! Will this be another yellow flag?

2:46pm

Stanaway makes an error and loses two places, dropping down to 21st.

2:44pm

And Waters gets around D'Alberto to take the lead.

He's driving like he stole it!

2:40pm

Stanaway is up into 19th after an overake on Will Brown. Hill is down to 21st.

Tander is still sixth, but under pressure from Alex Davison.

2:39pm

Waters has got round Payne now! He's up into second, and gunning for the lead!

2:36pm

And Waters gets around Coulthard into the right-hander! Waters has risen to third after qualifying on pole.

He's just over a second back from Payne, but the gulf in class between the main driver and the co-drivers is clear.

2:34pm

Waters has overtaken Kostecki and is now less than 0.2s back from Coulthard in third.

2:33pm

Tander is struggling, with Alex Davison now hot on his heels.

2:31pm

Stanaway has moved up into 20th after his start. Hill has dropped to 19th after switching with Pither.

2:29pm

Brodie Kostecki and Cam Waters are well positioned to challenge the cars in front after the pits.

They're fourth and fifth respectively, less than a second back from Coulthard in third.

D'Alberto's lead is just over 0.4s at the moment.

Still a long way to go though!

2:26pm

Tander has been hit with a five-second stop and go penalty for the infringement!

That could be for van Gisbergen, but Tander is the culprit.

2:23pm

Green flag, and we're going again!

2:23pm

Murphy and Stanaway have swapped after the stop, so the Kiwi re-enters down in 21st.

Coulthard is third as the best of the Kiwi contenders. Tander is sixth.

Chris Pither has swapped out for Cameron Hill, down in 18th.

Andre Heimgartner has been forced to retire after his co-driver, Dale Wood, crashed out.

2:20pm

Hang on, Tander is under investigation for an unsafe pit release. This could be another blow to van Gisbergen's hopes.

Murphy pits in the meantime, which means Tony D'Alberto - Anton de Pasquale's co-driver - hit the front.

2:19pm

Tander has stayed in the car after their first pit stop, no sign of van Gisbergen yet.

2:18pm

Murphy leads after the first stops. Payne has swapped out for Holdsworth, in third.

Waters is now sixth.

2:16pm

Holdsworth comes into the pits, which sees Greg Murphy (temporarily) take the lead as he stays out!

2:15pm

Here we go, the first set of pit stops. It looks like Coulthard will stay in, but Waters is swapping out for Moffat.

2:14pm

Someone's come off the track, and it looks like Jake Kostecki.

This could be another safety car - it will be.

Will we see the drivers pit behind the safety car?

2:13pm

The main drivers are getting ready for the first change of the day. Cam Waters - who's co-driver Moffat is second - will target the lead once he's in the driver's seat.

Holdsworth's lead is over five seconds now, but co-driver Matt Payne will have to see if he can keep that advantage.

2:11pm

Holdsworth's lead is now more than four seconds. He was one of few first drivers to start the race, with James Golding down in sixth the next best.

2:08pm

Coulthard is closing in on Moffat for second place, less than 0.2s back.

Moffat defends well, as they round the final corner and onto the 15th lap.

2:07pm

Holdsworth's lead has grown to nearly 2.5s. Tander has dropped to sixth, Pither to 16th.

2:06pm

Tander is struggling in the wet, despite all his experience. He's still fifth, for now.

No cars have pitted to change their tyres yet.

2:04pm

Coulthard drops from second to third, overtaken by Moffat at turn one on the 13th lap.

Holdsworth still leads.

2:03pm

Murphy does well after nearly losing control! The drivers will surely all pit for intermediates as soon as possible.

2:02pm

And the rain has started to fall! This will change the entire complexion of the race.

2:01pm

Kiwi Chris Pither is quietly having a good race. He's up into 15th, after starting 21st.

1:58pm

Murphy has dropped down to seventh now, overtaken by Russell after the restart.

Holdsworth keeps the lead, but Coulthard is hot on his heels!

1:56pm

And we're away again!

1:55pm

It sounds like there's going to be a directive from race control for drivers to stay on the track.

The amount of rain we've had over the past couple of days means anyone on the grass will risk losing control once they're back on the dry.

We're getting ready for the safety car to end though.

1:53pm

There's tears from Wood in the garage. Heimgartner goes over to comfort him, but there race is over after seven laps.

1:49pm

The No.8 car looks to have also been scratched. That's Kiwi Andre Heimgartner's car, but was driven by co-driver Dale Wood.

Heimgartner is out of the race before even getting behind the wheel.

1:48pm

Car No.26, driven by David Reynolds and Matt Campbell looks to be gone as well.

That makes three cars to have retired so far.

1:45pm

The No.18 car, driven by Winterbottom is back out there, but the No.5 of James Courtney and Zane Goddard appears to be done for.

1:42pm

Car No.8, Andre Heimgartner's co-driver Dale Wood, suffered damage in that collision.

Waiting to hear if its terminal damange.

1:39pm

Another huge crash! Goddard and Winterbottom! That's another safety car then!

1:38pm

Murphy has dropped down two places, but Tander - van Gisbergen's co-driver - is up to fifth.

1:36pm

Looks like the safety car is coming in this lap, and we'll be back to green flag.

And we go again!

1:32pm

Zak Best says he's not sure if they'll be able to continue. The #55 car has been taken off the track, which will hopefully mean a green flag soon.

1:29pm

We're yet to receive an update on the #55 car, Thomas Randle and Zak Best, but it could be the first retirement of the day.

Still under yellow flags.

1:28pm

Amid the chaos, the Tander/van Gisbergen tandem has moved up into sixth. Fellow Kiwis Coulthard and Murphy are second and fourth respectively.

Wood, Andre Heimgartner's co-driver has kept hold of 12th, while Chris Pither is 16th.

1:25pm

Three cars are in the pits with damage after the first lap.

D'Alberto, J.Kostecki and Evans all needing repairs.

1:23pm

That's a yellow flag and a safety car - the first but surely not the last of the day.

It looks like Jamie Whincup has suffered damage in the 88 car.

1:21pm

Holdsworth leads off the line! Coulthard goes up to second, but there's chaos at turn one.

We'll wait and see just what's happened.

1:20pm

Right then, we're all ready to go at Mount Panorama!

Green flags, and we're underway!

1:15pm

The drivers start their formation lap, and then we're on!

1:13pm

The drivers have been cautioned that there is water at turn one. This first lap could be chaos.

1:09pm

It looks like Coulthard, Murphy and Tander will all start the race as co-drivers.

All the cars also appear to be starting on the hard tyre, confident in the dry track.

Five minutes to go now.

1:03pm

Just over 10 minutes to go...

1:00pm

Not long to go now, the teams are going through their final preparations out on the grid.

12:35pm

As far as the Kiwi drivers go, Richie Stanaway is the highest qualifier in fourth place, alongside Greg Murphy as his co-driver.

Fabian Coulthard is third, co-driving for Chaz Mostert - who won here last year.

Shane van Gisbergen is down in seventh after being hit with a three-place grid penalty on Friday, with Supercars legend Garth Tander as his support.

Andre Heimgartner is down in 12th, but loves the wet conditions that we could have today.

Chris Pither meanwhile starts 21st, as the last of the Kiwis - for now.

12:30pm

Good afternoon!

The good news is that the weather has cleared after yesterday's dramas.

The fans have turned out in force for today's race, so here's hoping Bathurst 2022 lives can deliver!

We're about 35 minutes away from the start of the race, so stick around!

******

Kia ora, good afternoon and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the Bathurst 1000 - the 'Great Race' - from Mount Panorama.

Weather has played a massive part in the build-up to this year's classic, with torrential rain forcing the cancellation of Saturday's top-10 shootout, along with several support races.

Organisers are working hard to ensure today's event proceeds without hitch in any conditions.

The race holds special significance for Kiwi Shane van Gisbergen, who can clinch his second straight Supercars crown, depending on results. He currently leads the standings by 525 points and can secure the overall title, if he can put a further 75 points on second-placed polesitter Cam Waters.

No-one else is within striking distance of van Gisbergen, who will share his car with part-timer Garth Tander, the fastest of any driver through practice and qualifying.

Fittingly, van Gisbergen ensured his first Supercars title at this same venue last year, but he will start from seventh on the grid, after a three-spot penalty for colliding with Macauley Jones during qualifying.

After the shootout was cancelled, Waters and James Moffat won the pole, with Lee Holdsworth/Matt Payne alongside.

Defending champion Chaz Mostert and Kiwi Fabian Coulthard occupy the second row, with Kiwi wildcards Greg Murphy and Richie Stanaway.

TAB Odds: van Gisbergen/Tander $3.30, Waters/Moffat $4.20, Davison/Davison $5, Mostert/Coulthard $5.50, Stanaway/Murphy $9
