Motorsport: Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen caps off memorable weekend with another win at Gold Coast 500

Kiwi Shane van Gisbergen has capped off a memorable weekend of racing with another Supercars win at the Gold Coast 500 on Sunday.

Fresh off clinching back-to-back titles, and his third overall on Saturday, he finished first again to also give Red Bull Ampol Racing the 2022 teams' championship.

Van Gisbergen finished more than two seconds ahead of nearest rival Chaz Mostert to finish atop the podium to go along with the previous day's crushing win.

He only needed to finish in the top 24 if Cameron Waters was the first to see the chequered flag to secure the title on Saturday.

But the result was never in doubt, with van Gisbergen delighted to be able to repay his team's faith.

"We had to beat one car to secure it, but we killed everyone," van Gisbergen said after the title-sealing race on Saturday.

"That was amazing, it was a great battle at the start, Dave was driving awesome. I enjoyed racing him, it's been a while.

"Thank you to Red Bull Ampol Racing... what a year, it's been a lot of fun.

"It's certainly pretty special, to see the guys, how much effort they've been putting in, how good our cars are.

"I'm stoked, it's hard to put it into words yet."
