Kiwi centre Steven Adams has notched his first double-double of the young NBA season, helping his Memphis Grizzlies to a 125-110 road win over Sacramento Kings at on Friday (NZ time).
In his fifth start in as many games, Adams finished with a statistical line of 12 points and 11 rebounds, as the Grizzlies moved to a 4-1 record overall and leapt to third in the western conference standings.
The 29-year-old was his industrious self on the glass, pulling down a mammoth seven offensive rebounds, while shooting an efficient 6/9 from the field and chipping in four assists.
He also unveiled a silky eurostep on his way to a layup and showcased some crafty footwork in the low post on a long-range hook shot.
Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane was 6/8 from three-point range and scored 31 points.
All Star point guard Ja Morant added 22 points and six assists, while Brandon Clarke contributed 16 points off the bench.
It was the second consecutive torrid shooting night for Bane, who established career highs of 38 points and eight three-pointers in Tuesday's 134-124 win over Brooklyn Nets. Bane is 14/19 from beyond the arc over the last two games.
Point guard De'Aaron Fox was the best of the Kings, pouring in 27 points and six rebounds.
The Grizzlies now travel to Salt Lake City to face Utah Jazz on Sunday.
