Rugby: All Blacks, Hurricanes utility Jordie Barrett re-signs with NZ Rugby through 2025

All Blacks and Hurricanes utility Jordie Barrett has re-signed with NZ Rugby until the end of 2025.

Barrett, 25, is delighted to ink a new deal, and looks forward to representing franchise and country for the next three years.

"It's a privilege to have the opportunity to live and play rugby in New Zealand," he said. "That is a dream I've had since I was a young kid.

"I feel as though the Hurricanes franchise is in a really good place at the moment and I feel like the All Blacks are building towards something special."

The 45-test fullback was a standout in this year's Rugby Championship triumph and starred as a makeshift midfielder in their win over the Wallabies at Eden Park.

Barrett's contract extension is welcome news for All Blacks coach Ian Foster, with the Rugby World Cup in France just a year away.

"I'm delighted with Jordie's re-signing," he said. "He's become a massive part of our long-term plan.

"His commitment to New Zealand through till 2025 is fantastic news."

Barrett's versatility and goal-kicking has been integral for both the All Blacks and the Hurricanes in an ever-growing rugby schedule.

Hurricanes head coach Jason Holland is delighted to have his star player locked down for another three Super Rugby campaigns.

"It's great to have Jordie commit to the 'Canes," he said. "He has grown into a key leader for our group, on and off the field.

"He's playing some of his best rugby last year at both 12 and 15, and we expect him to be even better in the next few years."

Barrett has been a regular for the All Blacks since his 2017 debut, after a stellar first Super Rugby season, scoring 135 points.
