Rugby League World Cup: Fiji lock in quarter-final clash against NZ Kiwis, Australia, England surge to big wins

Fiji have overcome a staunch Scotland at Newcastle on Sunday (NZ time) to secure a quarter-final against New Zealand at the Rugby League World Cup.

The Bati prevailed 30-14 to secure second in Group B and book a date against the Kiwis at Huddersfield on Saturday morning.

The Fijian enjoyed the majority of territory and possession but a host of handling errors plagued a scrappy performance.

After leading 18-8 at halftime, they ran in two unconverted second-half tries to seal their clash with the Kiwis, who they famously knocked out of the 2017 tournament at the same stage in an historic upset.

Meanwhile, Australia were far too strong for Italy, running out to a 66-6 victory at St Helen's.

The Kangaroos scored nine tries to one to cement the top of Group B and schedule a likely quarter-final clash with Lebanon.

Earlier, England ran riot against minnows Greece in a 94-4 demolition at Sheffield.

Wing Dom Young scored four of his side's 17 tries in the rout, as 11 different players crossed the chalk for the hosts.

England will likely face Papua New Guinea in their quarter-final on Sunday, unless the Kumuls are upset by Wales in their final game on Monday morning.
