New Zealand multi-sport star Amelia Watkinson has made a successful return to competition after serious injury, with a second-place finish in Sunday's Noosa Triathlon.
But she wasn't the only Kiwi on the podium.
It was a sweet moment in a tough year with Watkinson back on the podium in her first major event since crashing off her bike in June.
"I think I was out for six weeks only four months ago, so I'm pretty happy with that comeback," she said.
Her start set it up - 10th in the swim, before she made her big move on the bike. But the pre-race favourite Ashleigh Gentle wasn't far behind.
Gentle overtook Watkinson on the final leg to claim a record ninth title in Noosa.
"The bike… I needed a few more minutes on Ash to make it hard for her, but I'm happy with that result," she said.
And making the day even sweeter - the surprise performance of Kiwi Hannah Knighton.
The 21-year-old was first out of the water, and while she was overtaken on the bike, she kept a good pace to ensure a top three finish.
"I just wanted to have a good race, so it's icing on the top to get the podium," Knighton said.
"Yeah, Kiwi proud," Watkinson said of the win. "I haven't been back to NZ for a while but I'm pretty stoked that we're on the world stage in the sporting arena."
