The rain in Sydney stopped the Blackcaps from getting a full practice run at the SCG, as they open their T20 World Cup quest against rivals Australia on Saturday.
But Jimmy Neesham says he's not worried that their win record on Australian soil is not in their favour.
Barely flying in under the radar, the Blackcaps do have a memory of beating Australia here, but it's old, and they don't care - at all.
"Zero percent," Neesham said. "It's the first game of a new world tournament."
And their recollections of that is what's fueling them to go one better than 2021.
"I saw some record that we've won 16 of 18 T20s since that World Cup," Neesham said. "We've got a huge amount of momentum."
Momentum that was interrupted during their first and only three-hour practice at the SCG.
"It was obviously a little bit wet in Sydney today," Neesham said. "We got a little 20-30 minutes outside in the nets and then went indoors for the rest of the training."
The skies are clearing enough for their rivals, who will have most of the support at a sold-out SCG on Saturday.
But the Blackcaps say they're relaxed - relying on their skill, experience, and memories of recent near-misses as fuel.
"The guys aren't too concerned, " Neesham said. "[We've] had a lot of cricket, so certainly no excuse if it rains tomorrow."
The Blackcaps are out to prove that after always being the bridesmaid, they're ready to be the bride.
"We know we have the ability to perform in these world events," Neesham said. "Every team starts with zero tomorrow."
