No one should be surprised by Qatar's rejection of football captains wearing multi-coloured armbands to support diversity and inclusion, Ryan Bridge says.
Governing body FIFA on Monday pressured the captains of England, Wales, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and Denmark to not wear the 'OneLove' armbands at the Football World Cup in Qatar.
That came before FIFA rejected the Belgium team's away strip because it had the word "love" in the collar combined with a rainbow-coloured trim on the shirt.
Many have criticised FIFA for allowing football's biggest stage to be hosted in Qatar, where members of the Gulf state's LGBT community have reported being detained, according to Human Rights Watch. The group has also accused authorities of ordering transgender women to attend conversion therapy.
And AM host Bridge, who's openly gay himself, said no one should be surprised by the latest developments at the Football World Cup.
