3rd over - Bhuvneshwar beats Conway's bat first up. Conway skies one to point, not much control there. High but falls safely. Gets one high off the bat and almost offers a return catch. Wafts at a wide one. Tough going out there for NZ early, plenty of movement for the bowlers. Just two off the over.

2nd over - Arshdeep to share the new ball. Starts with a wide. Allen glances one fine off his pad for four leg byes. Yorker on the button, well dug out by Allen. OUT - Beautiful in-swinging yorker and this time Allen plays all around it. No need to consider a review on that one. Another early departure for Allen.

8:10pm - Right, here we go team. The players are in position, the skies are clear (for now)... let's play some cricket.

8pm - The Blackcaps openers are preparing to make their way to the middle. Play should be underway imminently.

Scratch that. The umpires aren't satisfied with the condition of the outfield, still a tad too soggy for their liking. First ball will be delayed 10 minutes.

7:51pm - There's a little bit of drizzle lingering in Napier but it shouldn't be enough to impact the 8pm start time. Touch wood.

7:31pm - New Zealand have won the toss and will bat first.

One change to the Blackcaps line-up, with Mark Chapman in for Kane Williamson, who's unable to play due to a medical appointment.

7:23pm - Better news! The toss is scheduled for 7:30pm ahead of an 8pm start.

7:05pm - Evening cricket fans. Wish I had better news for you, but... it's raining. Again.

The toss has been delayed. The big covers are still on. Will bring you another update as soon as one is to hand.

Kia ora and welcome to our live updates of the third and final match of the Twenty20 international series between the Blackcaps and India.

After the first game was rained out and India waltzed to a 65-run victory in the second at Tauranga, the best the hosts can hope for tonight at Napier is to even the series.

They'll have to do so without skipper Kane Williamson, who's been ruled out to attend a "pre-arranged medical appointment". Tim Southee will captain the side in his absence.

Both teams are playing their final match in the format for the year and will be eager to bid 2022 a positive farewell and fire a warning shot ahead of the three-match one-day international series, which begins on Friday.
