Rugby: All Blacks lock Brodie Retallick banned for two matches, available for England test at Twickenham

All Blacks lock Brodie Retallick has copped a two-match ban, after his red card against Japan on Saturday, and will miss the upcoming tests against Wales and Scotland.

Retallick was sent off for a dangerous cleanout on Japanese loose forward Kazuki Himeno in New Zealand's narrow victory at Tokyo.

He appeared before a committee of Leon Lloyd, Donal Courtney and Wang Shao-Ing on Tuesday, and had a  possible six-match ban reduced by 50 percent, due to his "excellent disciplinary record".

Retallick can have an extra match knocked off his suspension and return for the test against England, should he complete a World Rugby coaching intervention programme.

If he's successful, he would make his 100th All Blacks appearance against the old foe at Twickenham on November 20.

The All Blacks play Wales on Sunday, and will likely field a second row of new captain Sam Whitelock and Scott Barrett in Retallick's absence.
