Blackcaps captain Kane Williamson has acknowledged he's been far from his best at the T20 World Cup.
Fans have voiced their frustrations about the skipper's recent performances, with some even calling for him to be dropped.
And while Williamson concedes he's got work to do before a must-win game, it seems he's going nowhere.
If Thursday's press conference is anything to go by, Williamson's intentions are clear.
"I'm always working on different things," he said.
"Absolutely looking for things to keep improving on…as a player, you're wanting to keep improving, keep addressing where you can get a little bit better with your game.
And for some fans and critics, that improvement needs to be the pace of the Blackcaps skipper's innings. That said, Williamson's recent numbers have been far from awful.
He averages a touch under 24 so far at the T20 World Cup, and scored a half-century less than a month ago - not to mention he scored 85 runs in a World Cup final , less than 12 months ago.
But it's the way, or more so the pace, at which he's scoring the runs. His strike rate is regularly 100 or less, but believes it comes down to role and situation though.
Williamson hears the noise - though isn't taking too much notice of it. Blackcaps fans may just have to trust the skipper to steady the ship.
"You guys are allowed to chat about lots of different things and that's quite okay," he said.
