Former ASB Classic winner Sloane Stephens is the latest to confirm her entry for the 2023 Auckland event.
After reaching a career-high of No.3 in the world, the 2017 US Open champion is currently ranked 37th, but won her eighth WTA singles title in February with victory at the Abierto Zapopan at Guadalajara, Mexico, and reached the French Open quarterfinals, where she lost to eventual runner-up Coco Gauff.
Stephens, 29, joins a an ASB Classic women's field headed by world No.7 Gauff and rising Canadian star Laylah Fernandez.
The American has visited Auckland several times previous, defeating Dane Caroline Wozniacki in the semis and German Julia Georges in the final, en route to her 2016 crown.
The men's tournament also received a boost this week, when teenager Holger Rune defeated tennis great Novak Djokovic for his first ATP 1000 title at the Paris Masters.
"No doubt that he's the future of the sport, along with Alcaraz," said Djokovic. "I'm not happy that you beat me, but on the other hand, I'm happy for you because I like your personality, you're a very dedicated guy who loves tennis."
The performance promoted the 19-year-old Dane into the world top 10 for the first time.
