Wellington Phoenix's nightmare start to their A-League Women campaign has continued with a 3-0 defeat to Canberra United on Saturday.
The loss is the Phoenix's fourth in as many games, leaving them mired at the bottom of the competition ladder.
Despite the highly anticipated debut of Football Ferns star Emma Rolston, the Phoenix struggled to find their rhythm at either end of the pitch.
They were particularly let down by a porous defence, which resulted in the opening goal of the game after just nine minutes.
A sloppy turnover led to an early opportunity for Grace Maher, who converted on the rebound with a delicate chip to put her side ahead 1-0.
That advantage doubled in the 27th minute, when a low cross was deflected into the net by Phoenix defender Michaela Foster - a goal credited to United forward Michelle Hayman.
A calamitous defensive error led to Canberrra's third goal, with Phoenix goalkeeper poor clearance gifting the ball straight back to the opposition and Vesna Milivojevic serving up a neat backheel pass to Heyman to claim her second of the day.
Wellington now return to the capital to host Adelaide United next Saturday.
