NZ Breakers star import Barry Brown Jr could be in hot water with the Australian NBL after allegedly calling a referee a cheat during Thursday's 88-81 loss to Sydney Kings.
It comes after the Breakers were left frustrated with a lopsided foul count against them.
Already on the wrong end of the count, it was a non-call that pushed the Breakers to breaking point.
The referee was not happy with what he heard from Brown Jr.
After fulltime, coach Mody Moar had plenty to say, although he was choosing his words much more carefully when asked about the 21-8 count against his side.
"When you make a mistake, own it, fix it, and move on," Maor said. "I expect every part of the NBL to conduct themselves the same way."
The Breakers have confirmed to Newshub they'll be taking up the officiating with the ANBL.
Although according to the opposition, the only mistake the referees made was not calling more fouls.
"It felt like we were playing the All Blacks out there tonight, [with] the physicality of the game," Kings coach Chase Buford said.
"I know the foul count was heavily slanted one way, but it could have been double that."
After back-to-back losses, the Breakers now head to Perth to play the Wildcats.
Whether Barry Brown Jr joins them, or faces time on the sideline for his outburst remains to be seen.
