The White Ferns have opened their Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh with a record victory, as Lea Tahuhu's career-best bowling figures inspired a 132-run win in Christchurch.
Defending 164, Tahuhu took figures of 4/6 from four overs, backed up by 3/8 to Hayley Jensen, as Bangladesh imploded to be all out for 32 in the 15th over.
Tahuhu's figures are the second best return for the White Ferns in the shortest format, only bettered by wife Amy Satterthwaite's 6/17 against England in 2007.
So emphatic were Tahuhu and Jensen, not a single Bangladesh batter even reached double figures, with six from 17 balls to Ritu Moni the best on offer on a scorecard that read like a phone number.
After captain Sophie Devine won the toss and elected to bat first, New Zealand's openers put on 84 for the opening wicket.
Devine (45) and Suzie Bates (41) scored the bulk of New Zealand's runs, before handy contributions to Amelia Kerr (27), Maddy Green (36 not out) and Tahuhu (13 not out) sent up the order as a pinch hitter.
But come time to bowl, the White Ferns never gave Bangladesh a chance.
Bowling at first and second change respectively, Jensen and Tahuhu knocked the top off the Bangladesh order, reducing the visitors to 12/5 inside the powerplay.
Once Tahuhu and Jensen were done, New Zealand's spin axis of Fran Jonas (2/2) and Amelia Kerr (1/6) took over to mop up Bangladesh's tail, ending the night early for both sides.
While the White Ferns' biggest partnership was the 84-run stand between Bates and Devine, Bangladesh's best was a paltry 15 runs, coming from Moni and Fahima Khatun (5).
Victory puts the White Ferns one win away from taking the series, needing to win one of their next two matches, the first coming in Dunedin on Sunday before the finale in Queenstown.
New Zealand 164/3 (Devine 45, Bates 41; Akter 1/25) Bangladesh 32 (Moni 6; Tahuhu 4/6, Jensen 3/8)
