During his time coaching NZ Kiwis and Warriors, he was known as 'Happy Frank'.
Yesterday, the only way to describe Frank Endacott was 'ecstatic', as he watched his talented two-year-old filly Millwood Nike go a perfect eight from eight - winning at group one level in Christchurch.
Endacott has coached country and club to famous victories, but watching Millwood Nike win might be the most excited he has ever been.
Millwood Nike's group one win at Addington was in New Zealand record time.
"It's a buzz," Endacott said. "I think when you put so much intensity into coaching at the top level for a long time, for decades really, you need an outlet and I've always found that harness racing is a good outlet."
Endacott was renowned for spotting talent on the league field. Milwood Nike is trained and driven by one of the best at doing that on the racetrack - Mark Purdon.
"I just get the thrill out of them, and the thrill and excitement they're getting out of the filly," Purdon said. "Frank said it's one of the highlights of his life, having her."
Another highlight - a celebratory drink in the President's lLounge for Endacott and his syndicate.
"No beer for this, it's bubbles," Endacott joked.
There could be many more to come. At just a two-year-old, Millwood Nike could develop into a stayer over the New Zealand Cup distance in years to come.
"Five of us in the syndicate, and we get on like a house on fire and just enjoying the ride," Endacott said.
Still unbeaten, including three group one wins, it has the potential to be a historic one.
