Silver Ferns defender Katrina Rore has confirmed her retirement from international netball, after more than 100 tests in the black dress.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, former Silver Ferns captain Rore, 35, announced her decision to leave the international arena behind her, putting her young family first.

"My life and priorities have changed a bucket load over the past 18 months," she wrote.

"I'm ready to leave my career where it is and find my new path. I can't wait to see what my future holds away from the court.

"I miss it dearly but only because I've had such fond memories. Each and every person I've crossed during my career (either good, bad or otherwise) have helped me live and learn.

"Thank you so much. What a ride."

Since her Silver Ferns debut in 2008 as a 21-year-old, Rore played 137 times for her country, and was part of the side that won the 2019 Netball World Cup in England.

Aside from World Cup success, Rore was also part of the Silver Ferns side that won the 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medal in Delhi, and silver at Glasgow in 2014.

Rore hasn't played professionally since 2020, after welcoming her first child LilyBud in May 2021.

The defender had intended to return to the court in 2022 for Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic, before announcing her second pregnancy and welcoming her second daughter, Lola, in September 2022.

Rore is one of just seven players to represent New Zealand more than 100 times, with her 137 appearances placing her fourth on the Silver Ferns' most-capped players list.

Only Laura Langman (163 tests), Maria Folau (150) and Irene van Dyk (145) have worn the black dress more times than Rore.
