Both New Zealand's men's and women's sevens sides have progressed to the quarter-finals in Dubai in the first leg of the new World Sevens Series.
Despite stumbling to a 31-28 first-up loss to Argentina, the All Blacks Sevens rebounded to finish second in their pool, effectively ending Olympic champions Fiji's cup campaign in the process.
Taking the field for their second match against Fiji, tries to Akuila Rokolisoa, Moses Leo, Tone Ng Shiu and Caleb Tangitau saw the All Blacks Sevens secure a convincing 24-7 victory.
The All Blacks Sevens then sealed their spot in the next round with another emphatic victory, this time toppling Uruguay 35-5, thanks to tries to Ng Shiu, Tangitau, Leroy Carer, Joe Webber and Brady Rush.
And as New Zealand, Argentina and Fiji all finished level on seven points from their three pool matches, points differential was used to determine the quarter-finalists.
Argentina finished as Pool winners with a +47 differential, while the All Blacks Sevens took second place with +44, relegating Fiji into third place, where they'll play for fifth at best.
The All Blacks Sevens will face France in their quarter-final when play continues on Saturday (NZ time).
The New Zealand men are ninth after the opening leg of the new World Sevens series in Hong Kong, sitting with eight points after the first tournament.
Meanwhile, on the women's side of the draw, the Black Ferns Sevens completed their pool stage unbeaten, with three straight victories on the opening day of the first leg of the women's World Series..
Even without their cross-code stars from the Black Ferns' Rugby World Cup win, New Zealand got off to an ideal start in Dubai with a 19-12 win over Great Britain.
A 35-5 victory over Brazil and 31-12 win against France saw the Black Ferns Sevens finish pool play unbeaten with three wins from three.
As the second-best finisher from pool play, the Black Ferns Sevens face a rematch against Great Britain in the quarter-finals.
Elsewhere, defending World Series champions Australia will face eight-best finishers Fiji, Pool C winners Ireland face Pool A runners up USA, and Pool B runners up France face Pool C runners up Spain.
