Initially put on hold due to the pandemic, Tuesday marks 100 days until SailGP finally hits our shores.
Lyttelton Harbour near Christchurch is currently undergoing work to be ready for the event in March.
There wasn't much for the locals to see on Monday, paradise ducks on grass with water in the background.
But come March 18, Naval Point Club in Lyttelton will be a sailing paradise.
Event organiser Karl Budge is overseeing its transformation.
"There's a big deck that we're building over the rocks, so people can get out and look right down the course," Budge told Newshub.
"Where we are now is going to be our platinum, which is a bit of a champagne lawn, if you will."
And one with an impressive view, because the action will be just a stone's throw away from it.
"We want to bring it to the fans, make it inner harbour racing, and make it really accessible," Budge continued.
"So we're going to have a 4000-seat grandstand, a bit of a colosseum in this area… with sport's greatest drama."
At points, racing will be just metres away from what will become an intimate fan zone.
"We joke a lot that you'll be able to get a piece of ice from your gin and tonic and lob it onto the boats," Budge joked.
And the fan zone doubles as home base for the teams - all on one site.
There's plenty of work to be done until they're there though. The whole area is currently undergoing a revitalisation much like Auckland's waterfront received for the America's Cup.
There's only one more thing anyone could ask for - a New Zealand victory.
With views like the ones on offer, there's no excuse not to celebrate.
