Kiwi heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker will fight on free-to-air on Three and ThreeNow for the first time when he takes on Brit Jack Massey in Manchester on January 22 (NZT).
Parker, 31, is coming off his first stoppage loss at the hands of Joe Joyce last September, but now has an opportunity to get back on track with the support of Kiwis watching on NZ television.
He will feature on a blockbuster boxing card with Chris Eubank Jr v Liam Smith serving as the main event.
"We're delighted to build on Three's long and proud history of bringing New Zealand audiences the very best of boxing, and can't wait for Kiwis to see Joseph Parker enter the ring," said Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ Senior Director Content Juliet Peterson.
"We love making fantastic sporting events like this as widely available as possible."
Parker's manager David Higgins applauded the move to free-to-air Three and ThreeNow, and believes it's an ideal chance for Kiwi fans to watch the heavyweight.
"Joseph is well aware that the New Zealand public, the fans and the paying public have bought pay per view have - in a way - funded his journey to becoming world champion," Higgins told Newshub.
"He's always wanted to fight on free-to-air. Joseph's very happy to have his first fight on free-to-air television.
"If you look at history, some of the biggest television audience in New Zealand history are boxing events."
Parker's opponent will be making his heavyweight debut, having been a career cruiserweight.
Massey, 29, boasts a record of 20 wins and one loss from his 21 fights so far.
Parker praised Massey for stepping up to the challenge, but only sees the fight going one way as he looks to reignite his goal for heavyweight gold.
"Good on Jack for stepping up to take this fight," Parker said. "He's a tough guy who is very skillful and he clearly backs himself.
"But unfortunately for him, he has made a huge mistake. I've got a point to prove and he is standing in my way."
