Blackcaps allrounder Jimmy Neesham has shown why he was the most expensive overseas player at the SA20 auction with a gravity-defying catch for Pretoria Capitals.
Neesham fetched a NZ$340,000 fee and is repaying the amount in full, with a man-of-the-match performance against Stephen Fleming-coached Joburg Super Kings.
Fielding at cover point, he flung himself full length to his left to catch West Indies star Alzarri Joseph, before he was mobbed by teammates.
The grab sent local commentators and fans into raptures, with even Neesham seemingly in disbelief of the feat.
If that wasn't enough, he also starred with the ball, picking up three wickets for just seven runs off three overs to help bowl the Super Kings out for 122 runs.
The capitals chased down the target with seven overs to spare, with English opening pair Phil Salt and Will Jacks leading the way.
Neesham was only needed in the very last over, finishing not out for one run, before Salt hit the winning stroke to guide his team to a table-topping victory.
