We could be in for a long one here, folks.

5:13pm

Organisers are now hoping for a 5:45pm start.

Again, it all depends on the weather.

4:58pm

The heavens have opened. Not sure what this will mean for play, but don't be surprised if the final has to, fittingly, shift inside.

That'll be a last resort, though. Everything will be done to make sure this match is played on the outside court.

4:46pm

Umbrellas are out at the ASB Tennis Centre, but the court doesn't look too wet.

The start time has been pushed back to 5:15pm at the earliest from here.

4:40pm

Good afternoon. Not to be the bearer of bad news, but there are some very dark clouds over Auckland at the moment.

We're scheduled to start in 20 minutes, but it'll be amazing if rain doesn't interrupt this final in some way.

Watch this space.

*********

Kia ora, good afternoon and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the ASB Classic women's final at Auckland's Stanley Street.

After a week when most of the drama was provided by the city's unhelpful weather, the 32-player draw has finally - and thankfully - been reduced to just two.

American Coco Gauff's presence in the final is certainly no surprise. Ranked seventh in the world, the 18-year-old prodigy is top seed for the tournament and already has two WTA singles titles to her resume.

She has not dropped a set all week - but then neither has her opponent, Spaniard Rebeka Masarova.

Incredibly, Masarova was the 12th seed in last weekend's qualifying tournament, where she needed two tiebreak sets to overcome Canadian Katherine Sebov in the opening round, then defeated veteran Sara Errani to enter the main draw.

The 23-year-old toppled second seed Sloane Stephens in a match suspended by rain, then dispensed with Russian Anna Blinkova, Czech Karolina Muchova and Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure to reach her first WTA singles final.

This tournament is no stranger to qualifiers winning, with American Lauren Davis taking that route to the 2017 crown.

TAB Odds: Gauff $1.19, Masarova $4.35

Today's order of play is:
