Black Ferns Sevens have booked their spot in the quarter-finals at the Australian leg of the World Sevens Series with a 27-12 win over Japan on Saturday.
Michaela Blyde continued her red-hot form at the tournament by turning on the jets for two first-half tries, giving the Kiwi women a 15-0 lead at halftime.
Blyde completed her hat-trick just moments into the second half, with Shiray Kaka rounding out the NZ scoring, before two late consolation tries for the Japanese.
The results backs up their opening wins over Papua New Guinea and France on Friday, lifting them atop Pool A.
The Black Ferns will face Japan again in the quarter-finals at 9pm (NZ time).
