Former NZ Warriors fullback Reece Walsh caught the eye for Brisbane Broncos in the NRL pre-season hit out against Gold Coast Titans, landing arguably the year's best kick before the season's even begun.
After an off-season switch back to Brisbane, Walsh lined up in the Broncos' No.1 jersey for their pre-season clash, a 24-all draw against their Queensland rivals on the Sunshine Coast.
With his first touch of the game, Walsh split the Titans' line to score the opening try of the game, the first of his side's four.
But the 20-year-old's most impressive act was still to come.
As teammate Jordan Pereira grabbed his first try of the night, Walsh was tasked with adding the extras from the sidelines.
And to the bemusement of commentators, the former Warrior landed the kick, curving the ball with the outside of his left boot to swing it back between the uprights.
"You are kidding… that is ridiculous," said commentator Dan Ginnane after Walsh's effort.
Aside from his try and two conversions, Walsh ran for 114 metres in eight runs, made two line breaks, threw one line break assist and broke eight tackles of his own in an impressive night.
However, the Broncos still had to settle for a stalemate, as a try double to Alofiana Khan-Pereira, and two more scores to Jojo Fifita and Vaka Sikahele locked the scores to see both sides finish even.
Walsh and the Broncos have one final pre-season encounter when they face North Queensland Cowboys on February 18, before beginning their NRL campaign against reigning premiers Penrith Panthers on March 3.
Brisbane Broncos 24 (Walsh, Pereira 2, Mariner tries, Walsh 2 Staggs 2 conversions) Gold Coast Titans 24 (Fifita, Khan-Pereira 2, Sikahele tries, Boyd 3, Sexton conversions)
