Silver Ferns great Katrina Rore has answered an SOS for the injury-ravaged Northern Stars.
The 35-year-old hasn't played in the ANZ Premiership since 2020, when she made the last of her 147 appearances for Central Pulse.
In early 2022, the Commonwealth Games gold medallist announced she'd return for Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic but the comeback never eventuated, after she became pregnant with her second child.
But with Stars defender Elle Temu unavailable due to illness, Rore will step in to fill that void against her former team and defending champions in Auckland on Sunday.
"When an opportunity comes knocking you take it right?" Rore posted on Instagram.
"One training under the belt for one game. She'll be right."
Rore led the Pulse to three straight ANZ Premiership titles from 2018-2020.
The match will take place at Takanini's Pulman Arena, just up the road from where she grew up in the South Auckland suburb of papakura.
"Back where it all began," Rore added.
Rore confirmed her retirement from international netball in December, ending a glittering career that spanned 13 years and 137 games.
She was a key part of the Silver Ferns sides that won gold at the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010 and the world championship in England in 2019.
After two rounds of action, the Stars currently sit second in the competition standings, one place above the Pulse.
